My name is Hannah Jones. I am 30 years old. I received a certificate in American Sign Language and my associate’s degree from Collin County Community College. I was a Deaf Education Paraprofessional for 8 years. I was working full-time while going to school part-time. After I finished my associate’s degree, I had to make the hard decision to quit my job and come to TWU full-time so I could finish my undergraduate’s degree. I miss my students, but I know this is the only way in order for me to finish my degree. I cannot wait to have my own classroom! I have three sisters and two nephews who I love and adore. I used to move around a lot when I was young because of my dad’s job. I was born in Colorado and raised in West Virginia, Florida for a few years, then we moved to Switzerland for a year, back to Florida, and then finally Plano, Tx. It is very nice to finally have roots. I love movies and hanging with my friends and family just laughing and having a good time. I love to sing and dance, but I am not good at either on. It just makes me feels good. I want to travel and see EVERYTHING!
I have a lot of different school experiences. I grew up in private schools, I did homeschooling on and off, and then a French public school while we lived in Switzerland. Finally, I went to Plano ISD since I was in the sixth grade. I think that having all of this school experience will help me be more understanding to other students, especially ESL students. I think learning from my struggles through my school career will help me become a better teacher and to help kids to be successful students. That is part of the reason that I wanted to become a teacher. I want to take my learning experiences in order to help my future students. That being said, I am working on generalist EC-6 with ESL degree. My preferred grade would be 2nd grade. I would like to teach 2nd grade because I worked a lot with 2nd graders and I fell in love with that grade. I want to take what they know, no matter what level where they are at and expand their learning from there. I want to make fun and creative lessons for my students to remember the information for the rest of their lives. I want to incorporate learning styles (visual, audio, or kinesthetic) to help my students better remember the lessons. I would like to work in either Plano, Frisco, Allen, or McKinney ISD. There is no real reason, I just know that area very well and I know that all those districts have good reputations. I know a lot of friends that work in those districts and they love it. Also, I feel comfortable in Plano since I already worked there.
